Academy Member VogueXchange launches a series of workshops for refugees and asylum seekers in collaboration with Blue Door Education!

The Foundry is a project launched by Vogue Xchange (VX) in February 2024, a series of revolutionary and open upcycling workshops run every Sunday at VX Studio adjacent to Blue Door Education.

Blue Door Education enthusiastically promoted the workshops to their participants encouraging them to take the opportunity not only to practice their English but also to learn new skills. During the workshops, VX's founder Tonya Lehtinen teaches upcycling and sewing skills, as well as innovation and creativity, through the use of clothing waste. The participants are primarily Blue Door's students ( migrants, refugees and asylum seekers).

The project is entirely funded by Vogue Xchange and supported by APS bank. The workshop series is positively impacting the wellbeing and enhancing confidence and skills, as well as optimizing problem-solving abilities of the participants.

The project is expanding rapidly and requires sewing and crafting tools, including sewing machines. If you wish to donate any of the materials needed, please contact Tonya directly at tonya.lehtinen@gmail.com
