The Academy of Givers successfully hosted the 4th edition of its Annual Conference March 25, 2025, at Corinthia St George’s Bay. The event brought together business leaders, NGOs, and impact-driven professionals to explore how to drive meaningful change through strategic giving, sustainability, and corporate responsibility.
Titled “Make it Happen!”, the event featured an opening speech by Hon. Dr. Ian Borg, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, and the launch of the Second Giving Report for Malta, presented by the Academy of Givers Chairperson, Nathan Farrugia. This report provides a detailed analysis of trends in Corporate Giving, combining insights from both businesses and NGOs. It aims to enhance awareness of business contributions to Corporate Responsibility and discusses the challenges NGOs face in obtaining funding and support.
One of the highlights of the day was the panel discussion “How Did You Make It Happen?”, moderated by Roberta Lepre, Managing Director of Weave Consulting, featuring key personalities such as Her Excellency Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, Former President of Malta; Keith Marshall, Chief Philanthropy Officer at SIGMA; and Neil Agius, Olympic athlete and environmental activist. The conversation focused on the importance of purpose-driven leadership, long-term impact strategies, and the power of collaboration in addressing social and environmental challenges. Panellists shared insights on overcoming obstacles, engaging stakeholders effectively, and the practical steps organisations and individuals can take to create lasting change.
Participants also took part in hands-on workshops covering key topics such as ESG, CSR and Impact, Engaging Stakeholders and Systemic Change — led by industry experts including Deloitte and PKF Malta.
The event provided a space for collaboration between the business and the social sector, with an Impact Fair showcasing NGOs and social initiatives. The NGO Pitch Fest saw four outstanding voluntary organisations present their projects to an audience of potential supporters and partners.
With around 200 attendees, including C-level executives, ESG and CSR professionals, sustainability leaders, and social impact advocates, the For Impact Event and Fair continues to strengthen its role as Malta’s leading event for corporate responsibility and philanthropy.
The Academy of Givers extends its gratitude to all sponsors and partners who made the event possible, including APS Bank, Iniala Harbour House and Mark Weingard, The Hudson Foundation, Vistage Malta, Betsson Group and Fenech&Fenech/Fenlex.
