National Parents Society of Persons with Disability
One of the oldest and active voluntary organization within the disability sector.
The National Parents Society of Persons with Disability (NPSPD) was founded in 1976 thus making it one of the oldest and active voluntary organization within the disability sector.
NPSPD caters for the needs of people with disability and their families. It is a leader in bringing forth disability issues to the public domain, relevant authorities and engages in discussion with all parties who have the best interest of people with disability.
NPSPD is a founder member of Dar il-Kaptan, LAND and the Autism Parents’ Association and has a good and strong working relationships with the authorities and with professionals. Throughout all these years, the committee of NPSPD continued to organize social activities for its members to ensure that persons with disabilities and their families are participants in society. NPSPD is represented on various national boards through its committee members. In its overall approach, inspiration and actions, the NPSPD:
- believes in the right to life
- believes in equal opportunities for all
- adheres to the social model over the medical model
- considers education and training at all levels to persons with disability as priorities,
- promotes and monitors accessibility.
